Operations Associate

Work daily to help advance health care cost containment within the office of the Deputy Executive Director.

The Massachusetts Health Policy Commission (HPC) seeks an exceptional Operations Associate to support the HPC’s Executive Leadership Team and Board. This is a terrific opportunity for an administrative professional or recent graduate to support the operations of a nationally-recognized health care cost containment agency.  The successful applicant will gain extensive knowledge in public administration, project management, and event planning.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, duties of this position include:

  • Performing a variety of regular tasks to facilitate a well-organized office;
  • Providing administrative support to Executive team, including scheduling, organization and management of forms, records, and agency policies and procedures;
  • Supporting the development of a variety of publications and other communications, including presentations, reports, infographics, and related materials;
  • Assisting the Deputy Executive Director in planning for major public events and regular public meetings;
  • Supporting the Director of Operations and Chief Fiscal Officer;
  • Functioning as the back-up at the reception desk; and
  • Special projects, as assigned.

The HPC is an independent state agency that develops policy to reduce health care cost growth and improve the quality of patient care. The HPC has five core responsibilities: (1) monitoring the performance of the health care system, (2) analyzing the impact of health care market transactions on cost, quality, and access, (3) setting the health care cost growth benchmark, (4) investing in community health care delivery system transformation, and (5) certifying patient-medical homes (PCMHs) and accountable care organizations (ACOs). The HPC's 11-member Board provides oversight to the activities of the agency. 

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Desired Qualifications:

Excellent speaking and writing skills, including an ability to organize information and concepts clearly, concisely, and logically.

Responsible, self-motivated and a team player. 
Excellent organizational and time management skills and an ability to be flexible in reprioritizing assigned tasks.
Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality.
Strong attention to detail, judgment, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

Experience working in a public department or agency will be strongly considered. Salary is commensurate with experience. The HPC may adjust title and responsibilities depending on the experience, education, and expertise of the individual selected.
